Keywords#
Keywords tell Otomizer which posts to flag as potential leads. Good keywords match how buyers actually write in groups, not how you describe your service on a website.
How keywords work#
When the extension scans a group post, Otomizer checks the text against your keyword lists:
- Positive keywords: if a post matches, it enters the scoring pipeline
- Negative keywords: if a post matches, it is skipped regardless of positive matches
During onboarding, Otomizer generates an initial keyword set from your business description. You can edit, add, or remove keywords anytime in Monitor Config or Settings.
AI-generated keywords#
After you describe your business in Chapter 1, Otomizer suggests keywords based on your industry and offer. Example for a restaurant marketing agency:
- "need help with social media"
- "looking for marketing agency"
- "restaurant instagram"
- "who do you use for ads"
Review these suggestions. Keep the ones that sound like real posts. Delete anything too generic.
Adding your own#
Think about how someone in your target market asks for help in a group:
- Questions: "anyone recommend", "looking for", "need help with"
- Pain points: "not getting leads", "ad costs too high", "website not converting"
- Category terms: "web designer", "business coach", "SEO"
Add 5 to 15 strong keywords to start. You can always expand later.
Negative keywords#
Negative keywords filter out posts you never want to engage with:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Hiring | "hiring", "job opening", "we're looking for a" |
| Spam | "DM me", "click the link", "free webinar" |
| Off-topic | Terms unrelated to your niche |
| Competitors | Names of businesses you do not want to reply to |
[!tip] Add "hiring" and "job" as negative keywords unless you are recruiting. These posts clog most group feeds.
Examples by niche#
Marketing agency#
Positive: "need marketing help", "facebook ads not working", "looking for agency", "who runs your ads"
Negative: "hiring marketer", "job posting", "internship"
Business coach#
Positive: "stuck in my business", "need accountability", "looking for coach", "how do you grow"
Negative: "hiring coach", "certification program ad"
Local service (contractor, restaurant, etc.)#
Positive: "recommend a contractor", "need website for my restaurant", "best plumber in"
Negative: "hiring", "franchise opportunity"
Tuning over time#
If you get too many low-quality matches:
- Add negative keywords for the noise you see
- Make positive keywords more specific
- Uncheck groups that are too broad
If you get too few matches:
- Broaden positive keywords (shorter phrases match more)
- Add more groups
- Check that the extension is running and groups are selected
